October 25, 2021 Update:
We are happy to announce that we can once again accept book donations. Our guidelines are listed below.
If you have 2 boxes or fewer, drop them at the library main desk.
If you have more than two boxes, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. We will get back to you and coordinate a time for dropping off your books.
Guidelines for book donations:
Books must be clean, in good condition and boxed. Bankers box size (10x12x15) is ideal.
Fiction in good condition, no more than 10 years old
Non-fiction in good condition
Children's books in good condition, including children's books in Spanish
Audiobooks on CD
WE CANNOT ACCEPT FOREIGN LANGUAGE BOOKS, PERIODICALS/MAGAZINES, ENCYCLOPEDIAS, DICTIONARIES, TEXTBOOKS, REFERENCE BOOKS, TECHNICAL MANUALS, AUDIO OR VHS CASSETTES, CDS OR DVDS (EXCEPT AUDIOBOOKS).
BOOKS THAT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED BY US CAN BE DROPPED IN THE DISCOVER BOOKS BOX ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE MORE FOR LESS GAS STATION AT THE CORNER OF MAIN AND KELLY.
Our major book sale normally takes place each year in early November.* As we have limited storage space for books at the library, there may be times during the year that we cannot accept book donations. Check this page for status before you bring donations to us. If we are not accepting donations, please save them until closer to our sale if you can!
*We are looking forward to resuming book sale events in 2022
We are pleased to announce that we have met our Coastside Gives Goal for 2021! Our goal was to raise $10,000 to support summer camp activities on the Coastside through San Mateo County Libraries.
112 donors contributed to an amazing total raised of $15,408. Thanks to your generosity, our kids in need were able to have a fun and engaging summer, and meaningful steps were taken to close the COVID learning gap.
Coastside Gives 2020
Thanks for helping to make Coastside Gives a huge success for the Friends of the Library in 2020. We were thrilled to receive donations of over $13,000 toward the library's Adult Meals program. The Library began offering Adult Meals in early September, 2020. In the first 5 months over 2,800 meals were served, and the numbers are increasing every month!
