About the Friends
December 2022
The Friends of the Half Moon Bay Library is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 94-2939460). The Friends support our local library by enhancing programs for adults, teens and children of all ages and backgrounds in our community.
We are extremely proud of the achievements below (and many more!)
-
During the first months of the COVID pandemic, we contributed $20,000 to the library for WiFi hot spots distributed throughout the Coastside to those in need. We also sponsored the Adult Meals Program at the library when it started in September 2020 - 8,000 meals were provided through the end of June 2021.
-
We restarted support of the Adult Meals Program in September 2022. The program is currently providing about 45 meals every day.
-
We raised nearly $15,000 during the Coastside Gives 2022 campaign for permanent shade awnings and additional outdoor furniture to ensure that the library provides a safe, welcoming outdoor place to gather throughout the year.
-
This year we donated books to our students for the Summer Learning challenge and gave 750 books to the Coastside Community School Backpack Drive.
-
Book Sales are a major source of revenue for the Friends. Look for us at the library on the 3rd Saturday of the month. And check out our Book Cart and Bookshelves anytime the library is open for gently-used fiction and non-fiction!
